Bryan, Hi, having FAO's contact the students is a nice touch. How effective is this process? Are they able to reach the majority of the students? Cindy Bryant

Another area that necessitated attention was the formalization and streamlining of the student complaint process.

Jay, Thanks for sharing your complaint process. If complaints are being handled at the instructor or department chair level then the process is working. Effective management empowers their people to make decisions and then allows them to do so. Cindy Bryant

Stephanie, In today's environment the fear of misrepresentation is quite common. I refer to this as paralysis by compliance, meaning that we become so paranoid in everything we say and do that we become ineffective. I like to tell people to learn their department or program and feel confident in your answers. The good news is that everything is listed in the disclosures and you can always pull one as a reference. Cindy Bryant
Jamie, You bring up a interesting point when you wrote, "Often times managers focus primarily on the negative rather than the positive." Sometimes the negatives are the driving force behind change. Why do you think this happens so often? Cindy Bryant
Rhonda, Thank you for sharing your previous experience regarding the purchase of books. It always helps the students to have a buy back program. Cindy Bryant
Bryan, I am sure that your students are very forth-coming with student referrals. It is good to know that you encourage the referred student to contact you. I agree, if they reach out to you that shows their commitment to change their life. Cindy Bryant

Bryan, Welcome! When dealing with an important topic, such as, misrepresentation you can over prepare. The first steps are knowledge and training. Once these steps have been accomplished the role playing helps reinforce what the employee has learned. Every situation may be different and having everyone involved in the process is very helpful. Wright, Hi, while this was an unpleasant situation, having had such an experience you are able to share possible solutions with your students. They can learn from your misfortune. Cindy Bryant
Lindsey, Fantastic ideas! I love it when a plan comes together. Cindy Bryant
