Linda, You are right-there are so many theories out there that address motivation. The first step is that every individual be goal-oriented. Without goal-orientation motivation ceases to be effective. The second step is speak tothose that you would like to motivate and find out what they prefer. Finally, the last step is to practice, practice, practice what you preach. You mention that you don't need an "atta-girl" if so, you may be one that is instinctively motivated. John, Positivism in the workplace has huge impact on the workplace. It leads to trust, smooth work days with less interruptions or distractions. It helps keep everything upbeat and will squash gossip and rumors. If you have a work place based on these commonalities it is easier to build an ethical foundation. In order to keep this environment you must start with the hiring process and make sure that new employees share the same values. Cindy Bryant
