When articulated upfront, clearly defined objectives provide students with an idea of what will be taught, how it will be presented, and allow them to understand when they have achieved mastery of the subject matter.

Lesson plans provide a framework or a structure to guide the instructor through the material to be delivered. It also contains the rationale, which provides the students with an explanation of why the course content is relevant to them.

Having an organized lesson plan prior to the onset of the class can prepare you to deliver the material efficiently, meet timelines, and keep students engaged for the duration of the lesson.

Creating effective assessments provides an avenue to accurately measure how well the students are learning the material being presented.  The knowledge gained from the test results may validate your teaching methods or may serve to refine them for subsequent classes.

As teachers and instructors, we have an inherent obligation to assess student learning to ensure learning objectives are being met and to further refine and improve our teaching methods for improved delivery of classroom material.

Posing questions to your students and use of the Socratic question techniques can be utilized to check for student understanding, increase student participation in the classroom, and stimulate useful, relevant dialogue to further learning and comprehension of the subject material.

Good Day Everyone,

Students, especially adult learners, tend to have different learning styles and often favor one over another.  As a teacher, understanding this can help you to present information in a more easily digestible form for your students' particular learning styles.  Furthermore, this can improve the efficacy in how material and knowledge is delivered, absorbed, and retained both within and outside of the classroom.

Cheers,

Chance
