One thing that I never thought about as an online instructor is the time of the due date- from my personal experiences of being an online student, assignments were typically due at midnight on Sunday- according to what I just learned, best practice is to be available during the time that the assignment is due incase there are any questions- I need to ensure that I am adjusting the time of due dates so I can support students if needed. 

It's important to use a variety of relavent tools and teaching methods without being overwhelming. The use of technology and the course layout need to be consistent so students can have a level of predictibility in the online learning environment.

Teachers need to be consistent in how they set up their online course. Synchonous meetings can be helpful in controlling the classroom content but is not always realistic because part of the beauty of online learning is that the student can do the work at their own space. 

It is important to understand the technology that you are using, and use it for it's intended use so it is effective. Also, the technology needs to make sense with what the task is. 

It is important to use multiple evaluation methods from all stakeholder groups to make necessary adjustments to the course to improve student learning. 

Feedback is not a justifcation for the grade that is given, but needs to be objective driven. The steps to peer evaluation within specific perameters is helpful for students to help each other improve their assessments prior to turning in. 

I learned different ways that students can disrupt a learning environment and effective ways to manage it. It is really important to understand the rules and regulations of the organization and to ensure that your actions reflect those guidelines.

I tend to be sarcastic in nature which does not translate well electronically. So I need to be careful how I word things to aviod coming across as being rude. 

Also, to keep live meetings as more of a small group gathering, instead of all of the students at once. 

Building a relationship is essential to a quality learning experience. Using a biography of yourself and to get one from students is best practice to start building that relationship online.
