I currently use games such as jeopardy.  Here is a link to a jeopardy free site. https://jeopardylabs.com/

Definitely incorporate both. I have found that most of the Generation Y students definitely like power points vs. traditional lectures. Most of the students like the guidance they receive from the tiles used in power points.  Most students have told me they like having a visual direction, and power points help fill that need.

Everyone of us should continue to learn new things.  When a person stops trying to learn they tend to become set in their ways and unwilling to change.  Daily learning is a valuable tool I use.  Youtube is full of useful learning tools. One could start watching an educational video on youtube each day.  There are enough educational videos to teach that person something each day for the rest of his or her life. My point is, never stop learning.

Students only need to be reminded once of upcoming assignments.  I give the students the opportunity to ask questions, and then I remind them of what is due for the next class.  I will also remind them to refer to their syllabus for any due dates.  As an instructor, I work very hard on the syllabus, and review it the first day of class. I also stress the value of the syllabus to the student. I have found that most students can answer their own questions regarding due dates by referring to his/her syllabus.

I have had great success with teaching Generation Y students.  The key is to keep them involved and include some technology but, not too much in your lectures.

What technology tends to work best for teaching generation y students?

Great access to all of the Microsoft Office programs in java script.

This is a great site with many ideas and tools to help with teaching diverse students.

I agree with your statement about multi-tasking.  It is very disruptive and I constantly find myself being asked to repeat things to the ones who are guilty of multi-tasking.  The best way I have found to deal with my multi-taskers is to take them to my office and, explain to them that multi-tasking is very disruptive to the learning enviroment.

I totally agree with your statement.  We also need allow time for the perspective student to make his/her decision.
