I labeled this threa this because I realy do not know what else to call it. When in the lecture part of my class I do this often. I will ask the class about what I am getting ready to discuss. What does this do gets them in the mind thought of ok we are conna cover this and I may want to try and remember the key things he just asked. Even tho i have been hearing about these learning styles for years now i always forget them. I am a good instructor but if i try and think am I reaching this style or that syle i reach none becuase my focus is not on the class. But every time i read the styles i find out that I am doing what i am supposed to do according to the experts. How can you do this you may ask very easy make the class Fun and if you are not excited about what you are saying neither are the students.… >>>

OK it is plain and simple we as educators are actors. We have to keep the attention of the class for the time they are in there. With this we are like actors we are showing them a story so to say. The examples of the delivery are the ones that we should use I had to laugh because going thru this section i saw myself and did not even realize that I was doing things the right way. Here goes remember the first time you saw someone that you were meeting for the first time. I do and many remember the first time they met me. Why you ask well until I took the postion that i have now i had hair to my waist am covered in tattoos and that is what people see. Now what they do not see is a college educated former business owner of a successful company and a great father (according to my son). But they go by first impression. The way i do it in my class is very simple actuallu. We take apart the item that we are talking about that day. This gets them excited because they have hands on from the very beginning. As we then go over the different components they have them in their hand so they can actually see the changes i refer to in the parts. At the end of the day when they are reassembling I go around and look and make sure they are doing it correctly if not i coach and help them. Very easy approach for me in… >>>

One way I do this is, as I get ready to start a section I will ask questions about it before actually discussing it. Yes sounds simple but if everyone in the class answers wrong or most of them, they are now concerned with what the right answer is. I have found by doing this the students actuall pay attention and remember what they heard. Simple but effective.
