I like that these can both be implemented effectively if the teacher has a good grasp of how they want to get the students involved. One-on-one or small group meetings can be very helpful synchronously to get everyone on the right page or help explain a particularly tricky topic while asychronous meetings are a good way to have students check in on understanding.

Not only is it important to know what tools are available but a full assessment of whether or not those tools will work for you as a teacher and with your teaching style is also very important.

Constant Self-reflection and course revision are necessary tools for an online environment.

Feedback quality is immensely important. Students should receive quality feedback with a very quick turnaround. They should know that their work and responses are valued and read.

Web-based tools like wikis can be very effective ways to set up communication between an instructor and the class. Student involvement in something like a blog can also be very effective at keeping the class engaging.

The idea of creating a community is also very interesting and poignant.

Creating and sharing a learning-object Database can make your life a ton easier the next time you teach a course.

I focused on the conflict resolution material. The information on resolving and addressing qu.ickly seems especially helpful and poignant

When creating a course, it is important to make room for discussions. While asynchronous may be the dominant form, time should still be allowed for synchronous interactions. Feedback is important and let's students feel involved and valued in the class.

It is important to put your personality/presence into the course and to make sure to allow space for students to do so as well. Since it is harder to do this in an online environment, space will have to be made for it.

It is very important to learn and understand all the features of our system's CMS. This will make us more effective in using the CMS as an actual instructional platform as opposed to just a repository of worksheets. Course structure is also very important to maintain student engagement and involvement
