I learned about using the four O's to set up and go through your class.  I also liked how adding a personal touch helps the student and still tries to build rapport through email because that level of comfort is needed for the student to be successful.

I learned that using student feedback is an excellent and direct way of gauging if the course is effective in meeting its objectives.

I learned that an instructor really needs to know their class when deciding if you want to do synchronous or asynchronous learning.  If a student is doing online learning there is a good chance that flexibility is a key reason for them so I would lean more asynchronous in my teaching style if that was the case.

I learned that knowing your own teaching style is vitally important to what type of virtual learning you want to incorporate in the class.

I learned a lot about the different types of lectures that there are.  I am planning on using several of them.

I am learning that comfort and safety are huge in learning.  Making people feel comfortable, engage them like a peer, and be organized are huge for student success.

The module was very important because it is all about planning and the important work done before the class.  I forget who said it but it reminds me of the old adage, those who fail to plan, plan to fail.

The part of the video that talked about how a teacher has to stay humble because there will be someone in the class smarter than you.  That was pretty interesting and it also does two things.  It makes me prepare more and it keeps me grounded as to what and where I am.

I learned how detrimental it is to embarrass a student.  That survival instinct kicking in is a real thing after an instructor embarrasses a person.  I may be speaking from personal experiences LOL.

I really liked the REFOCUS acronym tool.  To me it seems to humanize the teaching process and gives everyone a good tool for re-calibrating success.
