carlos, Evaluation is a measure of how close students came to meet standards. Assessment of learning is something wholly different. Barry Westling
carlos, I think of the syllabus as my expectations as to what I expect and the students to understand what is required of them. One mistake I've learned is just because it's written in the syllabus is no guaranttee that students will follow it or adhere to what I expect. Barry Westling
carlos, I believe when students can successfully master the kills and knowledge required for employment, one primary goal will have been met. Barry Westling
carlos, Role models we are, and being prepared sets the example. Barry Westling
Keith, I try to avoid EC assignments altogether in an effort to be fair to all. I will make EC bonus points available on midterm and final exams. Barry Westling
Jessica, This isn't a bad idea. Something similar is asking a more difficult question or two that demonstrates understanding and giving credit if the students answers it correctly but no deduction if they miss it. Barry Westling
Keith, I agree when students feel confident in what they've l;earned and can demonstrate that consistently, that's a good sense the instructor and student have made a good connection. Barry Westling
Gordon, I believe students thrive when there is order. We require so much of our students, the necessity to provide order, direction, and clear instructions is paramount. Barry Westling
Sebastian, I don't always pretest. But when I have, it has helped me understand my students prior knowledge, which is really more of a help to me than student benefit. Barry Westling
Donna, Great. When I am able to work with students on an individual basis, their performance just automatically improves. And I can also better understand what specific help a student needs. Barry Westling
