About me

Activity

William, Prepared and organized creates positive results, satisfaction by both instructor and student, and creates a learning environment consistent with the level of professionalism most instructors want to experience for their students. Barry Westling
Michelle, Anxiety is really rooted in fear. If we are prepared, there is little to fear about our lessons and readiness to deliver outstanding memorable class sessions. Barry Westling
Cameron, Yes, a physical touch, visual image, sound of working and non-working parts, perhaps even the odor of an item can provide lasting and memorable instructional points that can benefit from use of senses. Barry Westling
Barbara, Good reasons. It's a common practice, but repetition has it's merits. Barry Westling
Barbara, We have to be flexible to meet the needs of students, and a part of that flexibility is having good back up plans that are more than time fillers, but activities that positively contribute to the lesson. Barry Westling
Richard, Great approach to staying in touch with your students performance. I believe students just do better when they know where they stand. It also provides a forum for discussion if a student is having difficulty. Barry Westling
Suzanne, Great use of resources and application from the lessons. Barry Westling
Stephanie, Photo's, charts, graphs, images, and illustrations all work to compliment the text on slides. Variety makes presentations more interesting, and therefore, more memorable. Barry Westling
Cameron, I always like to be early, at least before students arrive. I get all my "stuff" in order, outline and objectives on the white board, and I usually write a daily quote or inspirational saying. Then, as students arrive, I have time to answer questions, ask how they're doing, or just chat to help establish rapport. When class starts, everyone knows, "time to get down to business". None of this happens by accident. Barry Westling
Suzanne, I use "clickers" for select topics, and they do add a certain dimension of variety and interesting engagement by students. Some think it's fun, sort of like a game. The key part is the anonymity of responding to posed questions. Barry Westling
