Activity

Workgroups allow the instructor to observe the students tackling a learning objective or scenario. I find it interesting that self evaluation was encouraged and possibly combined with instructor grading.

Repeat important stuff so the student's learning can catch up.....eye contact, float through the classroom, enthusiasm with control.

I like the encouragement of variety in question type but keeping things a clear as possible, for example by using capitals and not lower case in response cues.

The CAT assessments - minute paper, knowledge probe, process analysis and puncuated lectures - good stuff.

I ask lots of questions and get a lot of participation - it is a dialogue and trying an answer is absolutely a success even if wrong. Everything you answer wrong you are apt to remember! Winning all around.

I hadn't thought about learning aids for a kinesthetic learner in didactics - highlighters, chewing gum, standing etc. 

adult attention span is 15-18 minutes - mix it up!

where going and how get there.
other members of the class are not strangers.
demonstrated care about their learning.
relevancy and enjoyabililty of the course 

Preparation and readiness are key - first impression model the professionalism and competency you want to see in your students.
