Retention comes down to early intervention, clear communication, and a culture that genuinely supports students. I plan to practice empathy and active listening so others feel empowered to succeed

It is important to stay vigilant, to know your students and their usual behavior / red flag behavior. Talk to colleagues about interventions early on.

What I took from this is that it's important to BE THERE for students. Support them through tough and confusing times, help them see outside of the stress of the course and the future they will have.

Retention is a group effort, it takes all of us faculty to report and keep an eye on students and how we are engaging with them.

Being a good communicator is vital when dealing with people. It is an important skill to have because without it you may not go far in your career. It is important to be able to communicate as well as listen to those around you.

Integrated learning helps promote critical thinking and problem solving as well as better understanding of what is being taught

Learning trades online has come a long way! It has it's time and place just as much as in person learning. For many students, online learning opens up opportunities for them to actually go back to school and fit into their schedule.

What I take from this is that we need to show up so that our students can show up. It is important that the instructor models the classroom the way they want the students to.

I have learned to keep the class engaged by sharing real life experiences that relate to the curriculum being taught.

There are many different learning styles out there but what truly matters is learning about the student and what would best help them. It is up to us as the teachers to find the best fit for the student
