One great way to stimulate empathetic responses is to encourage students to “replay” or restate what another student has said, to check for accuracy, before responding. This prevents the irritating situation where students respond before another student has completed what he/she is saying. Or, when students “assume” what another is saying, rather than checking for accuracy.

The responsibility of the instructors,  regardless of education level or age of the student, is to create learning environments within which various intelligences can develop, including emotional intelligence.

I guess I have to revise my list of negative words, and add "should" and "could" to it. I never psychologized them that much in the past.

Love this... if you notice that your students are stressed, ask them to stand up in class and stretch or to do 15 jumping jacks in place. Ask your students to do a breathing exercise before big exams are distributed. Ask your students to get on an exercise schedule and to report to the class how they feel after staying on schedule each week. Ask your students to keep a sleep journal to record how many hours they sleep and how tired they feel the next day. By teaching your students about healthy coping mechanisms, you can help them more… >>>

Knowing that the three most common symptoms reported by people who experience stress are headaches, upset stomach, and back pain, actually makes me think I'm more stressed than I realize.

By taking care of clerical tasks intermittently  cause far less disruption in my day.  This method includes accomplishing clerical tasks all at once, at a single predetermined time during the day. Id love to make this as part of my daily routine.

This was my biggest take away: If you find yourself getting tired, it is important to understand that it may be time to stop. Procrastination and immediacy can both affect good time management. Instructors must try to find a healthy balance between the two in order to overcome these obstacles.

Students can lose their enthusiasm about the subject area very quickly if they don't know how they are doing in the course. Immediate feedback helps them to know they are doing well or shows them areas in which they need to improve.

The key points to rapport  are trust and understanding of others' concerns..,. if you can manage those two things, students will see you as someone they can trust and believe you have a genuine concern for their success in your class.

By providing opportunities for the development of self-respect within instructional settings, instructors will be enabling students to really focus on the acquirement of new knowledge and skills. Many students are there as a result of traumatic events in their lives, such as the loss of a job or a required career change. They are trying to redirect their lives, but are unsure if they really can do it. They must be encouraged, reinforced, and rewarded for their efforts when merited.
