It's important to set expectations for communicatoin at the beginning of the course. A rubric can be used to evaluate appropriate student-to-student communication.

The purpose of technological tools is to foster better communicatio, and the tools should be evaluated to see which tools work best for the situation.

Being able to find materials quickly and being able to navigate the course will be important. Instead of just putting traditional materials online, it's important to weigh all the options so you use the best possible strategies and tools for your students. You need to consider the origin, organization, orchestration, and outcomes of course design wehn creating the curribulum.

I learned that, just as in a face-to-face classroom, there are a few different ways to facilitate learning, from teacher-centered to student-cenetered. Student engagement and feedback is very importnat for maxiumizing student learning.

It's important to determine whether a synchronous or asynchronous class will be better for the course content. In either case, comunication and organization is essential.

There are a lot of different technology tools available to use, an dthe instructor should consider which one will be best for each application.

Multiple types of evaluations and sources of data are needed in order to make course revisions that will result in improved student engagement and learning.

I have been using very detailed rubrics in my teaching for at least 20 years, with both the instructor assessment and the self-assessment, as well as both formative and summative assessments. I agree that these are equally important when teaching online, and I'm looking forward to finding a way to make my rubrics interactive on my specific learning platform.

 

Like in face to face courses, scaffolding is extremely important. Additionally, it's important to create a dynamic syllabus that learners can interact with, and to update it as you move through the course.

I have learned that you can't just put your lectures and worksheets online and expect students to learn from it. You need to use the tools of the learning platform to develop a library of tools for students to use.
