Activity

Remember you are a human as well, meaning try to create a sense of comfort / community in your classroom, the way you wanted your teachers to create when you were the student. Learn names, share things about yourself, talk about why you became a teacher, greet everyone with respect, etc.

Keeping a notetaking device for particular student needs, like a daily reminder. I know for myself I will have one set for attendance submission and editing every day because I am still getting used to the software.

Preparation stems from how you begin class, BUT extends to the entirety of instruction and ensuring that you are consistent in providing excellent lessons / lectures / activities to your students.

Do not show your students how competent you may be in your field, instead show your love for your field. This stood out to me more than anything, mainly because I have always had this fear that a student may ask a question that will stump me someday. There is nothing to fear in that though, it is okay to not be the smartest in the room, in fact I learned that you most likely won't be as the professor said.
