Activity

We can work on balancing reflection and action.  We could produce more assignments that allow for self-reflection.  More assignments could have incorporate application of ideas.

It would be nice to incorporate more games/activties to appeal to different styles of learners. Content chunking was a good point.

Found this interesting: Rubrics can restrict the students' creativity as they may feel they need to complete the assignment strictly to the rubric criteria instead of taking the initiative to explore.

This is important: Instead of simply marking questions right or wrong with no feedback, it is imperative that feedback be a consistent part of any assessment including objective assessment.

Found this helpful:

The exit permit is provided to students at the end of a specific timeframe such as one day, one week, end of a unit, etc. The students are required to list one fact about the content/lesson and one explanation of a concept provided in that timeframe. Exit permits can be designed online as a quick five-minute survey in which students can provide the fact and concept explanation anonymously in a quick timeframe. The survey helps students decipher what they know and helps the instructor assess whether they are learning the content.

This was intersting to me: The advantage of portfolio-based assessment is that it provides for creativity and the display of growth in learning.

Thought this was cool: Missouri of Science and Technology enables its students to build their own microscopes for approximately $10 with the use of a smartphone.

Thought this was interesting: It is important to reward and recognize their successful course behavior.

Found this interesting: Unfortunately, many college students, regardless of their age, have never been asked to reflect critically on their work. Glogster was an interesting site I have not heard of before.

I felt that the characteristics of a successful online learner was helpful from Fairmont State University.
