About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Constance, It is imperative to watch your students while testing, and if they are caught cheating, they should be reprimanded. Patricia
Hi David, You're right! Students will begin treating you as if you are one of the boys or girls so to speak. At my institution it is coporate culture for students to address the instructors with the courtesy title and their last name. Patricia
Hi Matthew, You're right! You can not sleep on professionalism because you never know. Patricia
Hi Aissa, If it works continue to utilize it. Patricia
Hi Scott, Class management is a MUST! Students need it and they want it.
Hi Terrell, A line has to be drawn, and the students should not be allowed to cross the line. I am extremely approachable, but there is a line that can not be crossed. Patricia
Hi Cheyney, I've heard a lot of instructors do things as you have mentioned, such as listening to your favorite music or reading, but they do these things at home to get away from the school. Patricia
Hi Suzanne, I have known some instructors that have lost their job because of befriending students. It should be a professional relationship between the two not a personal one. Patricia
Hi Trinidad, Showing examples of work is a super motivator as well as a great confidence builder. Patricia
Hi Jeanne, I know some really think they can buy their degree, diploma, or certificate. They must understand, they have to earn their grades. Patricia
