Hi John, What an awesome list of suggestions! I especially like the suggeston on self talk. I tell me students to help encourage themselves positive self talk is extremely effective. Posistive self help helped me tremendously while I was in undergrad as well as grad school. I still even do it to this day. Patricia

Hi Roy, I constantly ask my students as I am lecturing, are there any questions, am I clear, is everyone with me, etc. Invariably there is someone who is very lost and will not say a word. Communication is key from both the instructor and student.

Hi Mariann, I like you ideas of having a positive instructor image. I can tell you are a great person and you care...you even mentioned the custodian in your response. Custodians are often looked down up. Thank you for seeing people as people and not giving them royal treatment because of prestigous positions/titles. I can tell you are a fine instructor.
