About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Rick, As educators and practioners, we have excellent stories to share with our students. Students want and need to hear about the personal experiences as they relate to the lesson. Patricia
Hi Rebecca, I like the idea of securing a signature. What a great way to hold the students accountable. Patricia
Hi Steven, I like it! These type tests are very difficult to cheat on. The grading is very time consuming, but you are putting your students first and yourself last. You are not making this easy for you (grading), you are doing what's best for the student. KUDOs to you!! Patricia
Hi Michelle, I can fully relate to you. Teaching is certainly my passion. I absolutely love it! Students can tell my love for the field. Every second is exciting in my classes. We need everyone to get on the same page with us! :-) Patricia
Hi Mariann, By using this approach, you will see the quality of work will improve tremendously by students. You're right, students will pull an all nighter in a minute. Patricia
Hi Karen, Students love guest speakers. Guest speakers are fantastic motivators. It is always nice for students to hear someone else's perspective other than the instructor's all the time. Patricia
Hi Pietro, It appears when students are getting immediate feedback from the instructor, it keeps excitement alive. I like the idea of 3 stars and one wish. How have you used this? Patricia
Hi Shane, I agree with the prevention statement. How do you go about preventing cheating? Patricia
Hi Jeffrey, I am sure you have some interesting stories to share with students. Just based on your position alone, students will automatically have an interest in hearing from you. I can tell you are very engaging in the classroom. I am certain you are an excellent resource for your students. Patricia
Hi Christine, I am a firm believer in one of my favorite quotes, "A student does not care how much you know, until they know how much you care." Patricia
