About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Connie, It is certainly impressive how you make it a point to teach your students about punctuality. Employers have a very low tolerance level for tardiness. I like what you are instilling in your students because it is no joke in the work place. Patricia
Hi Marc, I like how you make it known up front that they are not allowed to point fingers at others. You are teaching them for every choice there is a consequence. If I were your student, I would not walk away and leave my product unattended due to soley understanding what could possibly happen. Patricia
Hi Cornelius, It is great whenever students are involved in active learning. The instructor should always ecourage student participation as much as possible. I give a 5% participation grade each grading period to encourage participation. Patricia
Hi Adrian, Yes. There is a distinct difference in the role of an instructor verses the student. The instructor should act professionally at all times so that he/she is regarded as the instructor. The student needs to stay in a student's place. Patricia
Hi Anthony, Preparation is key! It is also nice to follow a course outline because it keeps you on target, and it helps you remember exactly what needs to be covered. I have a daily lesson plan that is a big contributing factor of keeping me on task. Patricia
Hi Ronald, Things really get serious when you use the term contract. Students need to fully understand how serious the syllabus is. There should be no gray area in the syllabus. Everything should be clearing defined and explained. Patricia
Hi Charles, I like the different measures you use to make course requirements clear. Your students should really appreciate the length your institution mandates to make sure they are successful. Patricia
Hi Michelle, You're right, some of our students are extremely creative. Their minds can at times be much more imaginative than ours. They will go to great lengths to do an effective job presenting the chapter. I love having my students teach chapters. Patricia
Hi John, I can tell you are a professional educator. You lead by example. It is obvious what professionalism means to you. You are certainly the role model we want students to potray. Patricia
Hi Cornelius, You are definitely on point! You have echoed my thoughts. Lead by example. We are some of our students only role model. Patricia
