About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Nathan, Preparation is key. When you are prepared, you are ready, and you feel so much more at ease. Patricia
Hi Lawrence, Yes, you are on point. We are not in it to win a popularity contest. We should maintain a professional image and convey our knowledge to our students in order to change their lives for the better. Patricia
Hi Tracy, Students need to know that you care and you truly have their best interest at heart. You need to be friendly to everyone, choosing a select few to be friendly with will cause too many problems. Patricia
Hi Cassandra, Great ways to generate excitment from the students. Students love it when they can see it. Patricia
Hi John, Guest speakers are great. They add validation to various concepts taught. Students get the opportunity to really pick another expert's brain. Patricia
Hi James, Yes, I do the same thing. It works well. I also make it a point daily to call upon students to summarize what was learned from the lesson. Patricia
Hi Marlene, Great methods! Variation does add excitement. I like to talk money whenever applicable to generate excitement. Patricia
Hi Diana, Absolutely! It is beyond excitement whenever students can apply what they have learned. Patricia
Hi Tracey, Boudaries must be established. Students need to know that there is a certain line that they are not to cross. Patricia
Hi Donna, We must work hard to maintain our professionalism. Students look up to us in more ways than one. Patricia
