About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Jeremy, Guest speakers are great motivators for many students. They add a lot of validity to various things the instructor mentioned in the class. Patricia
Hi Charles, ALL students should be treated the same. No one student should be shown special treatment. Students frown up teacher's pets. Patricia
Hi Laurie, Call on everyone in the class, including the shy students, and these students do not feel as though they are being put on the spot because everyone has to participate. Patricia
Hi Karen, An instructor has to prepare outside of school time. The preparation time decreases as you become more seasoned and as you teach the same course repeatedly, but preparation never goes away being in education. Patricia
Hi Denise, It is always good whenever you can make topics applicable to the real world. Students enjoy hearing stories about what they can expect and things that have happened. Use real-world stories every opportunity you can. Patricia
