About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Brenda, You were taught correctly. Make a presence that is firm, yet friendly on the first day. You never get another shot at making a first impression. Patricia
Hi Katherine, You are right. These are sure characteristics to help minimize instructor anxiety. Patricia
Hi William, Students only need the bare essentials during test time, most of the time only something to write with, if it is a math test, perhaps a calculator. Patricia
Hi Brenda, I soley agree! I have been teaching for over 21 years, and you just described me in your response. To this day, I have not had any problems with my image as an instructor. Patricia
Hi Marion, You are so right! At my institution instructors are held to a higher standard of rules that MUST be followed or else... I strongly believe in leading by example. Patricia
Hi Annette, Absolutely! Keep your eyes on the prize! There truly is a light at the end of the tunnel. Guest speakers help keep hope alive for students! Patricia
Hi Lacey, It is the instructor's responsibility to ensure that the classroom environment is conducive for learning. Patricia
Hi Neil, What a way to get them to pay attention. How effective has this been to allow a student to teach a concept to other students? Are the students grasping the information? Patricia
Hi Alison, It is human nature to feel this way, with time this feeling will go away. You feel like this because you want to do the best job possible. Patricia
Hi Traci, Students truly appreciate having a knowledgeable instructor, believe it or not, there are some instructors that are real weak in their knowledge base, this is so unfair to the students. Patricia
