About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Jennie, Super idea! It is good to hear that one educator made you feel important because you were. What type of instructor are you having been shy as a student? Patricia
Hi Carolyn, What great ways you have of comminucating clearly to your students. I like the ideas of the written instructions, highlighting and reminders. Your students are fortunate, you truly have their best interest at heart. Patricia
Hi Margaret, Great tactics! I like how you get everyone involved to capture their attention. Patricia
Hi Kathi, Failing to follow-up as a manager is awful. What a sure way to give your business a bad name. Patricia
Hi Patricia, I like your attitude! I require this of all of my instructors. They must arrive 15 minutes prior to class and stay over 30 minutes after class. This practice has proven to be very effective. Students appreciate it. Patricia
Hi John, Yes, I do. I feel the instructor's dress standards should be a step above the student's. Anyone should be able to walk into the classroom and know who the instructor is based on dress alone. Patricia
Hi Maureen, I always remember that effective leaders are not always your strongest students academically. I have known some intelligent students, but they did dot have leadership abilities. Patricia
Hi Grace, How do you go about showing course relevancy based on the courses you teach? Patricia
Hi Robert, Students need us and want us to control the learning atmosphere so that effective learning can take place. It is our jobs to be effective managers. Patricia
Hi Danielle, You are correct! Once students determine that you have no cofidence in your skills and abilities, you have lost all credibility and respect. The complaints are on from this point forward. Personnel has to become deeply involved. Patricia
