About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Carolyn, You sound so much like myself. What an awesome response! I can tell your students love you, respect you, and appreciate you. Patricia
Hi Daniel, Whenever students know that you are watching, they are less likely to cheat. We must monitor effectively. Patricia
Hi Linda, We cannot always please our students. We have to do what's best for them. They will get over the madness. Patricia
Hi Marianna, Notes are something good to refer to in order to prevent from making the same mistakes. At least you are making an effort to be the best in your profession. Patricia
Hi Melissa, You are so right! Instructors must certainly lead by example. Patricia
Hi Doris, They will certainly take the work for a joke if you do not follow up, even though it is to benefit them. Patricia
Hi Walter, Absolutely! Each student is different this is one of the reasons we have to be so good at what we do because each student has to be handled differently. I can say something to one student that I may have to change my whole approach based on the way I say it to another student. Patricia
Hi David, Is this "spoof" unique to your institution? Tell us more about it. We need to hear about different ways to add clarity. Patricia
Hi Jennifer, You are right! We are role models for many of our students. We need to be very careful about what takes place on campus as well as off campus. Patricia
Hi Chuck, I too have had very good luck with this tactic. Some of our silent students are really gifted academically, and they can lead if there is a need. Patricia
