About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Sandy, A variety is always good for students. Boredom is never a good thing. Patricia
Hi Joe, It is the instructor's job to control the environment. Disruption should not be tolerated; it is very unfair to others. Patricia
Hi Sandy, Overall, guest speakers are excellent. As mentioned, if they don't work out don't ever use them again. Use the best and try others. Patricia
Hi Alyson, An instructor should never sit during test time. Students need to know that you are in motion and mobile. Patricia
Hi Sandy, You should never expect things from your students that you are not willing to do yourself. Patricia
Hi Sharon, Nothing in education should just be done for the sake of it. Everything that is done should be of great benefit to the student first and foremost. Patricia
Hi Dennis, Subjectivity can really spark concerns and complaints from students. Grading should be as concrete as possible to minimize student complaints. Patricia
Hi Katrena, Students need to know that they are being watched. I like the idea of being mobile during test time. Patricia
Hi Lori, Great response! Even adults need boundaries! Students want and need structure. Patricia
Hi Lisa, I also make the students clear their desk of EVERYTHING. Patricia
