About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Michelle, What an exciting course to teach. I could see those finished garments through your response. You have grat visuals to get your students excited and involved. Patricia
Hi Michael, Students need and want structure. Instructors truly have a better sense as to how the class will run whenever structure is involved. When things are allowed to go unstructured no telling what will happen or won't happen. Patricia
Hi Julie, I never sit when I am teaching. I feel more in control when I am standing. My energy level projects more as well when I am standing. At my institution there is a no texting policy during instructional time. Patricia
Hi Jean, Smart move about copying the tests. This speil is enough to deter any cheating. The speil even intimidated me. It will definitely put fear in you. Patricia
Hi Susie, When you can connect to a student's liking, you have an even more excited student. Students tend to get real involved whenever there is a great sense of enthusiasm. Patricia
Hi Jean, Always have a Plan B, backups are life savers. Students really do undertstand that sometimes things just will not go as planned. Patricia
Hi Jon, Students need to know that you are approachable, and you make them feel comfortable enough to want to communicate with you. Patricia
Hi David, I hear you. Actually I like the strictness of your policy. Instructors should really abide by it and appreciate it because the policy is in place to protect them. I concur about the grading. Patricia
Hi Jessica, Super way to handle this. I would have done exactly as you did. Fantastic! Patricai
Hi Don, You are right! You never get a second chance at that first impression; make the first impression a positive lasting impression. Patricia
