About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Lola, Absolutely! It is probably more important with adult students because a child will always see you as the teacher, regardless. Patricia
Hi Gregory, I concur! Tell them exactly like it is and what it needs to be on Day 1. Do not hold rules, policies, and procedures until a later time, this will cause way too many problems. Patricia
Hi Joyce, Students appreciate having guidelines to follow. Visual adds clarity. Patricia
Hi Heather, Students will definitely control the classroom, if you don't. Students need to know who has the control...the instructor. Patricia
Hi Mary, These are great ways to generate excitement! Patricia
Hi Troy, I have seen it numerous times where students have surprised themselves based on their accomplishments. Patricia
Hi Teresa, This exercise is very practical because this is exactly what they will be doing on the job. Patricia
Hi Craig, Students seem to be held more accountable when a signature is secured. Patricia
Hi Mary, Students will imitate what we do professionally. We are the role models for our students. Patricia
Hi Teresa, It should never be a surprise for students when it comes to assignments. Students should know up front what is expected of them. Patricia
