About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Kerry, I understand! I am an effective communicator as well. I need to make sure that my students fully understand what is required/expected of them. I do not like to leave any stone unturned. Patricia
Hi Paul, You really have a lot to offer your students. You can really get them to buy in. I know you have marvelous stories to share with your students. I am sure you can really make the topic interesting based on your many years of experience. Patricia
Hi Linda, Seeing an example gives students the confidence and motivation they need to complete the project/assignment. Patricia
Hi Pamela, I concur! I would like to add that both enthusiasm and passion are contagious! They both are also worth catching. Patricia
Hi Joe, I make it a point to thoroughly go over the syllabus on Day 1. I've known instructors to even quiz students on the syllabus. Patricia
Hi Araceli, This certainly grabs their attention. They tend to really become attentive moving forward. Patricia
Hi Angel, You're right, interpretations can vary. A visual provides great clarity. Patricia
Hi Rufino, It sure does. If students feel as though they know you or are at least feel comfortable with you, they will open up to you. Trust and respect go along way. Patricia
Hi Jennifer, I can tell your teacher in grad school made a great impression on you. I can also gather that you follow her lead as a true professional, and your students will follow your lead as a true professional. Patricia
Hi Paul, This is a great way for students to see the importance and relevance of the course. Students need to understand why they need the course. Patricia
