About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Cheri, The first day will definitely determine the entire grading period. On the first day let students know exactly what is expected. Be nice, but firm. Patricia
Hi Roy, You are on point! If we do not control the classroom, the students will. Patricia
Hi Craig, You are right! Our students need to know that we care, and they matter to us. Patricia
Hi Denise, Absolutley, this is simply our job! I like how you go over the assignments with the students so that they can understand what they did wrong. Patricia
Hi Earl, Absolutely! It is simply the professional thing to do, and we owe it to our students to let them know how they are progressing within a timely manner. Patricia
Hi Rebecca, They will become calm! Listening to an angry student is like magic...you are in awe how it works. Patricia
Hi Annette, Preparation is key. An outline is extremely helpful. I have been teaching for more than 21 years, and I still use an outline along with prepared notes. Patricia
Hi Beth, I love it! What a great way to get your students to buy in. I can see why they immediately become excited. Money is such a super motivator. Patricia
Hi Roy, Absolutely! We owe it to our students to give them everything we have in the classroom, and this comes with great preparation. Patricia
Hi Marybeth, Absolutely, paint the picture that you want your students to become... a true professional. Patricia
