About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Lynne, Treat every student the same! Being fair to all is the best way. Patricia
Hi Rene, Absolutely! Students expect us to behave professionally. Patricia
Hi Lynn, Flexibility is important! There are no two days the same in education. A lot of my learning in teaching came from trial and error...don't be afraid to make a mistake, just do it. Patricia
Hi Kelly, I also like to bring in classified ads that pertain to the skill(s) they will obtain in the class. Patricia
Hi Lillian, It sure does. Boundaries must be set. Students should not be allowed to cross the line. Patricia
Hi Janine, Preparation is key! Preparation leads to great success. Patricia
Hi Jo, Students love having a guide. A rubric allows students to pregrade their own work. Patricia
Hi Heather, Great way to plan! Preparation is key! Preparation really puts you at ease. Patricia
Hi Jay, It really does seem like the more you force silent students to participate, the more comfortable they become. Patricia
Hi Eric, You're right. I tell my students all the time, the more you practice, the better you will become. Patricia
