About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Peggy, This is so interesting when you try to play out every scenario. Just when I thought I had each scenario played out, something new came along. I've been teaching for 21 years and new questions are continuing to surface. Patricia
Hi Erin, Organization is key! It amazes me the number of instructor that do not take the exams they give to their students. I like taking the exam to test my own knowledge base. Patricia
Hi Charles, I can tell you really encourage your students. We must set high standards for our students and trust that they will rise to the expectations. You get from your students what you expect. Patricia
Hi Heather, I like it! You do what's best for the students by giving essays to assess their learning. You do not do what easiest for you, such as the simplicity of the grading of a T/F or multiple choice test. Continue to put students first! Patricia
Hi Ronald, Absolutely, a guest speaker is a person who can bring reality to "Keeping your eyes on the prize." Patricia
Hi Robert, Students must learn how to take ownership based on the actions/behavior. There are many people out there that will not take responsibility for their actions. Patricia
Hi Charlotte, I agree! Anyone should walk into your institution and know immediately who the instructors are based on appearance and presentation. Patricia
Hi Heather, I concur! It is definitely a great way to reduce cheating. I like how you make your students put their explanations in their own words. As instructors, we do know what our students are capable of. Patricia
Hi Barbara, You are a great motivator for those who do not like public speaking. They can look at what you have done to gain the confidence that they need to present. Patricia
Hi Barbara, I concur! We are under a close MICROSCOPE by students! Patricia
