About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Sara, Absolutey! We need to give our students what they have paid for...an education. Patricia
Hi Veronique, Great response. It is an effective technique. We need to put our students at ease as much as possible. Patricia
Hi Jeff, Great way to put the responsibility back on the student and give advice as well. Patricia
Hi James, This is a good thing to point out to students so that they can understand the other side. Patricia
Hi James, You are right! Your colleagues will begin to inquire as well. Patricia
Hi Jennifer, You are on point! There is no need for the students to know that you are a new instructor. By telling them that you are new, you are giving them a reason to examine you carefully. Being new is simply irrelevant...teach as if you have taught for years. Patricia
Hi Heather, I do the same thing. Preparing a week in advanced has worked beautifully for me. It puts me at ease, and I am eager to teach each day. Patricia
Hi Terri, Preparation is key! I always prepare a week in advanced. Patricia
Hi Ryan, You want to lead by example, and your appearance says a lot about you professionally. I really like the idea of "no facebook" policy. Patricia
Hi Shaun, You are right! Guest speakers inspire students to keep their eyes on the prize. Patricia
