About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Delbert, It is certainly a great confidence builder. Students get the idea/thought that they can really do the assignment, and they get motivated to do it. Patricia
Hi Christopher, Absolutely! Our students learn from us either, good or bad. We are some of our students only role model. We must lead by example. Patricia
Hi Matthew, What a response! I can tell you give your all and all to every student. Every student matters, and we should teach to all. Patricia

Are you the type of instructor that will hang out with your students?  I am not.  I feel as though that the student/teacher relationship should be only professional in nature.  An instructor can be having an innocent lunch with a student and this type of action can look very suspicious to others.  Most institutions have a no Fraternizing Policy; however some personnel will ignore it.  The bottom line is this type of behavior is unacceptable and very unprofessional.  There have been employees that totally disregarded this policy, and the repercussion led to termination. … >>>

Hi Aaron, I too call on all students directly! This is one reason it is so important for me to learn student names because almost on a daily basis I call upon students. Patricia
Hi Mark, I like how you really put this back on the student. I am sure you get some interesting feedback. Great way to generate a lot of excitement. Patricia
Hi Mark, I like your steps! I concur! You're in the wrong professional if you are trying to be cool and be one of the boys or girls. Patricia
Hi Neader, I love your thought process on this whole idea! I care tell that you are very caring. Students need to know that we truly care. Patricia
Hi Meghan, I concur! The smaller the class, the more students want to get to know you on a personal level. My rule is in the classroom we are strictly business. Patricia
Hi Judy, It is good for students to hear another professional say most of the things they have been taught by us. The right guest speaker can add a lot of validity to a class. Patricia
