About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Sandra, Most students are angry due to outside issues. You are right, we need to carefully listen to our students so that we can get to the bottom of the anger. Patricia
Hi Maureen, Break things down so that students fully grasp what is being said. Patricia
Hi Deanna, It is professional, and it should be carried out in a way that will make students want to emulate you. Patricia
Hi Claudia, Every assignment should have a purpose. I ensure that the purpose of reading is to reinforce what will be taught or what has been taught. Nothing should be done for just the sake of doing it. Patricia
Hi Guy, I have found that money serves as a super motivator. Anytime I get the opportunity to talk about money in the course I do so. Students get real excited whenever you mention dollar bills. Patricia
Hi Victoria, You certainly want to deal with these students in a private setting. Help them to see how they are responsible. Patricia
Hi Tracy, Guest speakers are awesome! They add a lot of flavor to the course. Students enjoy hearing from other professionals other than the instructor. Patricia
Hi Claudia, Absolutely! It is our job to ensure an environment is provided that will allow effective learning to take place. Patricia
Hi Marina, Students enjoy hearing about our experiences and stories as to how they apply to the lesson. Patricia
Hi Allison, It is always clever to give a quiz on material that is to be read. Quizzing a student on read material forces them to read. Patricia
