About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Robert, Favoritism is definitely frowned upon. All students should be treated the same. Patricia
Hi Walter, For complaining and/or challenging students it is important to arrive at a rational decision as soon as possible so that the issue is resolved. Patricia
Hi Brenda, Preparation is key! Students want to and need to learn from an instructor that is knowledgeable in the subject matter. Students enjoy hearing applicable stories to the lesson. Patricia
Hi Ashley, Great list to entice students. I also like to do role playing when applicable along with PowerPoint presentations. Patricia
Hi Michael, Former students make for an awesome guest speaker. Current students seem to relate even better to former students as guest speakers. Patricia
Hi Reika, Our students really have a lot to juggle. I have had students who work night jobs to come to school so tired that they can hardly function. I encourage them to keep their eyes on the prize. Patricia
Hi Laura, Act as a role model to your students. They are truly not looking for another friend. Most of our students really need someone to look up to. Patricia
Hi Walter, It is nice if all students liked you, but it probably is not going to happen. Just remember, you are not there to win a popularity contest, your main focus is to educate them. Everybody is not going to like you, face it, accept it and move on. Patricia
Hi Jeanette, Pop quizzes are not a bad teaching tool. A lot of instructors have gotten away from the old school pop quizzes. Patricia
Hi Sandra, Students need to and want to know that we really and truly care about them. Patricia
