About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Tracy, You must be very careful not to show favoritism. Students frown upon this, and it certainly is very unfair. Patricia
Hi Joe, Whenever you teach a course for the first time a lot of overtime is required in order to do an effective job. I can tell you want to do well because you go the extra mile to make sure you are prepared. Each time you teach the class the overtime hours decrease, soon teaching the class becomes second nature. Patricia
Hi Sharon, I concur! Great clarity is added whenever examples are shown. Students tend to be more motivated to do the assignment whenever examples are shared. Patricia
Hi Terrell, Absolutely, and we must be the best EDUTAINER around. Students want to be entertained by learning the subject matter. Patricia
Hi Vernise, What an impressive list to establish a positive instructor image. I can tell you serve as great role model for your students by utilizing this list. I have found that as long as you follow this list and maintain professionalism as well as have knowledge of the subject matter, students regard you as one of the best instructors. Patricia
Hi Ramona, I have found that knowledge has to go above and beyond the theory in the book. Students tend to understand whenever you can make theory real, by sharing experiences/stories. Patricia
Hi Ken, I fully understand! I really like the title of the forum as well. The title is fitting for what is being done. I tell my students we are always one big happy family, except at test time we are unable to help each other; sudents chuckle, and they are extremely helpful to each other, otherwise. Patricia
Hi Sherri, Students expect to get requirements on Day 1. Requirements are a must so that the entire class flows. Patricia
Hi Lynn, Real life examples seem to really hit home with students. Students tend to better understand when real life examples are shared. Patricia
Hi Carin, Students gain a keen interest in the subject matter when they understand they can benefit personally and/or professionally. Patricia
