About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Amanda, Students feel a great sense of satisfaction/interest whenever they fully understand how the course can either be applied professionally/personally. Patricia
Hi Wajeedah, Absolutely! Students are really not in need of another friend; they are in great need of a professional role model. Patricia
Hi Jason, Anytime you can make the lecture apply to the real world, this is a sure way to capture students attention. Patricia
Hi Chantal, They do love it! Practical experience/stories that are applicable add a lot of flavor to the course. Patricia
Hi Lucille, I have experienced that every lesson will not be all fun and games. It appears to be like real life, fun happens from time to time, but we still have to keep ourselves going. As the instructor I continue to have a ton of energy and make everything apply to the real world to keep the excitement alive throughout. Patricia
Hi Ginette, Super response! Students need positive role models to emulate! Let's lead by example so that our students will have positive influences in life. Patricia
Hi Lynn, Awesome response! We are not in the teaching business to win a popularity contest. It is nice to be liked, but if you are not oh well, as long as you are changing lives for the better. Teach students do not worry about befriending them. Patricia
Hi Thomas, This is an old trick that really works. Whenever the student is not paying attention get them involved in the discussion by asking a question or gaining their input. Patricia
Hi Fran, I like to also make this type student a helper as well as a leader. This student has to be kept busy at all times. Patricia
Hi Thomas, At the minimum students should receive a 0 for cheating. Some institutions fail the student in the course as a minimum. Patricia
