About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Sheryl, Keep striving for perfection! It makes you that much more of an effective educator! I can tell by this response that you really go into the classroom prepared. Patricia
Hi Dwayne, We must keep our students focused, therefore we have to act as the guide. Students expect us to keep them on the right pathway, after all we should really be concerned with our students success. Patricia
Hi Paula, I have noticed that if you issue one zero to a particular student for not having their work, students really use this as a wake up call. Trust me, the word gets around. Patricia
Hi Patricia, The sooner students get started on an assignment, the better. Our students need as much notice as possible. Patricia
Hi David, Great idea! Rough drafts make for super end results. Students have to be held accountable, and if they do not do their work, it is their own fault. Patricia
Hi Allen, Just like in our personal lives, buddy/pal expects favors, students will expect favors in an educational setting as well if you are considered to be a buddy/pal. Patricia
Hi Karen, Whenever there is interaction between the students and the instructor, the students tend to be more open with the instructor. Patricia
Hi Juanita, Students gain great clarity from seeing the finished product. For most students, the light bulb really comes on from being shown an example. Patricia
Hi Melissa, What a great approach to take to make borain material exciting. Students tend to enjoy group work. I am sure you clear up points if students present something incorrectly. Patricia
Hi Keith, Students tend to get it whenever you can apply the course to real life. They need to and want to know how they will benefit from their learning. Patricia
