Hi Victoria, The instructor must certainly carry himself/herself in way so that it is clearly demonstrated who is in charge. Your demeanor and appearance as an isntructor are crucial. Patricia
Hi Jesse, Great points made! A student/teacher relationship at the collegian level should be STRICTLY BUSINESS, any other type of relationship is totally unprofessional. Patricia
Hi Diane, That's right, your students will know that when you give an assignment that you are serious, and you expect them to do it, otherwise there will be repercussions. We have to let our students know that we are serious when it comes to them getting a quality education so that they can become superb employees. Patricia
Hi Jane, How thorough you are with making sure your students are clear on course requirements. Your students cannot use the excuse I did not know because you are very detailed with your requirements. Patricia
Hi Glenda, I concur. Students seem to be a lot more at ease once examples are shared with them. A lot of students get motivated and excited after being shown an example. They get the drive to get the project started. pat
Hi Dale, Now that you are more aware, I am sure you will utilize some of the tactics that we have mentioned in the course and forum as to how to deal with unfocused students. Patricia
Hi Florita, A great way to get students motivated and excited is to show them an example of the completed assignment. Examples clarify a lot of questions students may have. Patricia
Hi Caro, Great points made! Insructors should always be willing and open to review graded assignments whenever students have questions, don't become offensive about a student questioning a graded assignment. Handle the situtation with professionalism, evaluate the concern, and make adjustments accordingly, if need be. Patricia
Hi Steven, Awesome response! What great practices to use with angry students. When both parties (student and instructor) are angry, it really makes matters worse. There are some people that will not apologize. I concur, an apology can sometimes make it all better. Patricia
Hi Victoria, You do a thorough job of making course requirements clear. Students are expected to know their requirements on Day 1. Patricia
