About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Involving silent students in class

Hi Katrina, Great ways to get silent students involved. I especially like how you have your students write questions and give them credit. Silent students are more open to writing questons as oppose to asking a question or sharing a response. This is a good pyschological approach because this can encourage the students to ask the questions as well. Patricia

Making course requirements clear for students

Hi Henry, Students are accustomed to being reminded of assignments. This reminding practice begins in elementary school and continues throughout high school. Even with my college students I still like to give them reminders, although I realize that their boss is not going to give them reminders once they begin their career. Patricia
