About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Ashley, I've used this tactic as well, and students enjoy it. This practice makes for a fun, yet comfortable atmosphere. Patricia
Hi Nicholas, Fun! Students enjoy using the sense of taste when it comes to learning. Side-by-side comparison requires deep thought as well. Patricia
Hi Vanessa, Remember to always make sure cell phones are put away as well. Cell phones can be a student's best buddy when it comes to cheating. Patricia
Hi Marcia, Super way to get your students excited about the course and see the relevance. The ultimate goal of the student is to find employment in their chosen field of study. Patricia
Hi Juanita, Anytime you can bring in practicalities to a lesson you should. Students get it when we make it real. They understand the purpose. Patricia
Hi Jacqueline, Students will sometimes clue you in if they know of a student cheating. I do try to make it hard for the student to cheat once I am aware, but most importantly I watch this particular student like a hawk. Patricia
Hi Mitchell, I really like your outlook when it comes to appearance. You look the part, and you serve as a super role model for your students. You can really shed light from a pratical perspective when it comes to accounting. Patricia
Hi Eric, I also like to bring in classified ads that pertain to skills that will be learned in the class. Patricia
Hi Shametra, Students need as much clarity as possible when they have been given an assignment. They are more motivated to do the assignment whenever they fully understand what is expected of them. Patricia
Hi Joshua, Great response! I can tell you lead by example, and you really are the professional that your students are trying to become! You appear to be a super role model. Patricia
