About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Jessica, Making a student feel a part of the discussion is a sure way to keep them focused. No one likes being caught off guard. Patricia
Hi Jennifer, I concur! Preparation is key! Be confident in your teaching abilities and showcase your skills confidently. Patricia
Hi Joel, This is one of the fastest way to lose your job when you establish a personal relationship with a student, especially one of the opposite sex. Patricia
Hi Leroy, I like it! contrary to belief, most students want to be challenged. They are not looking for an easy way out. It is the challenge that brings about the excitement. Patricia
Hi Jason, Establish a relationship with introvert students will motivate them to communicate with you. Shy students have to have a sense of comfort with you before they will open up to you. Patricia
Hi Ward, Culinary students must be quick to think on their feet! The questions that you presented had me thinking. It is good how you make these questions real to the profession. Patricia
Hi Barbara, Good idea! Students love it when they are having fun while learning. I like how you give your students something to look forward to. Patricia
Hi Brian, I concur! Make a strong presence on the first day so that students know that you control the class and not them. It is all in your presentation and demeanor as to how students look at you. Patricia
Hi Stacy, Always have the students to participate so that you can measure as to whether they are understanding or not. Patricia
Hi Mary, Adult students especially like knowing the why up front. When students understand the why, they have more of an interest as to what is going on. Patricia
