About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Rick, Shy students really have to warm up to those who are around them, and they are more likely to come out of their shell once they warm up. They must feel comfortable around you. Patricia
Hi Carol, The more real we can make a concept. The more buy in you will get from students. Students like hearing practical stories that are applicable to the lesson. Patricia
Hi Eddie, I agree! We should certainly act the part as well as look the part. Our students look to us to teach them acceptable professional behavior. Patricia
Hi Carey, Absolutely! Practice what you preach! Lead by example! Patricia
Hi Mary, You are very special to your students; you go the extra mile. Our students need to see that they can accomplish something, be it small or large. I like the little increments you take with your students so that they can reach their overall goal. Patricia
Hi Danielle, It makes a different presence when you are on your feet while students are testing. Students are less likely to cheat when you stand and circulate the room. Patricia
Hi Scott, When students know that you are paying attention they are much less likely to cheat. We must have eyes like hawks during testing time. Patricia
Hi Faith, Try prewriting your thoughts so that full words can be utilized. Our students need to see proper writing as much as possible due to all the texting that is being done. Patricia
Hi Ashley, I like the goal you have in mind. The ultimate goal should be for the student to return to the classroom to continue with the learning process, if at all possible. Patricia
Hi Scott, Visual helps with keeping students alert and add clarity. Patricia
