About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Rene, That's right! Start by being a professional and if you haven't start to be a professional. Real simple. Patricia
Hi Karoline, Students really and truly respect you more when they regard you as being a professional. Students really are not looking for another friend, they need someone to look up to. Patricia
Hi Susan, Students love hands-on activities and with this activity they get to feel the difference as well. Patricia
Hi Sonja, Preparation is key and a good attitude is contagious!! Patricia
Hi Amanda, Some textbook theory can be way over our students head. We have to do what we can to simplify the text so that students understand. I like your mini lectures and how you allow students to select topics of interest to debate. Patricia
Hi Sharif, Students really do perceive things differently. Examples cut down on confusion. Patricia
Hi Brandon, Students like and need a new buzz to help keep them motivated. Excitement keeps them coming back. Patricia
Hi Paul, We need to always make our theory as practical as we can for our students. Our students need to know what to expect in the real world. Let's continue to challenge our students. Patricia
Hi Anita, I concur! It is the instructor's responsibility to produce an environment that is conducive for learning to take place. Patricia
