About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Shawn, I concur! Treat all students the same so that nothing can be said about one student being treated better than another. Patricia
Hi Stacy, Great! I like to show course relevancy by bringing in current classified ads as they pertain to the course based on the skill(s) the students will obtain. Patricia
Hi Kathryn, We as professionals must hold ourselves to very high standards because students really do look up to us. Patricia
Hi Judith, Preparation is key! Instructors should not be leaving class to get important documents. We expect our students to be prepared, therefore we must be prepared. Practice what is preached. Patricia
Hi Angela, I feel as though study guides are great tools to prepare students for tests, thus cutting back on the want for students to cheat. Patricia
Hi Susana, I like your outlook as it pertains to a positive instructor image. I can tell you practice what you preach. Continue to be an excellent role model! Patricia
Hi Alma, Students become very motivated and confident when examples are shared. Patricia
Hi Roxanne, I concur! Most learners are visual. If they can see it, they believe that they can accomplish it. Patricia
Hi Susan, It may, but there are a lot of students like knowing in advance what is expected of them. Some students do like to get started early. Patricia
Hi Reagan, Great behavior to model to students. We as instructors should always model professional behavior to our students. Patricia
