About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Randall, I like to bring in classified ads that are applicable to the information that they learn in the class. Patricia
Hi Christopher, Great points mentioned. As educators we should want to know if our students are grasping the material or not. Every assignment should be given to enhance the learning objective, therefore the assignment is important, and the instructor needs to do their part by grading the assignment. Our students have a busy life and giving an assignment just for the sake of giving it has no merit. Patricia
Hi Richard, This is a great way to show the officers that they still have much to learn about planning. At my institution we give a lot of challening placement tests to show students that they may not know as much as they think they do about a particular subject. The placement tests really humble a lot of students. Patricia
Hi Timothy, You are definitely on point as to how to handle an angry student. Instructors should never put themselves in harms way with any student nor should other students be put in harms way. A violent student is way too dangerous and must be dealt with quickly and swiftly. Patricia
Hi Tammi, Wow, someone of higher authority needs to remove this student from the institution if she can't get her act together. Her supervisor will not tolerate this type of behavior in the workplace. Patricia
Hi William, What a thorough agenda for Day 1. You give your students exactly what they need. Continue to be an effective educator so that a difference is made in the world! Patricia
Hi Dana, Nice icebreaker too! Students really get to thinking if they are trying to analyze Einstien's riddles. Patricia
Hi Eric, I agree! Every time a graduate lands a position, I share the great news with my Professional Development students so that they continue to stay motivated and encouraged. Students need to know that things are hopeful for them. Patricia
Hi Anand, I concur! Students are more eager to begin a project/assignment and less nervous about beginning the project/assignment after being shown an example. Patricia
Hi Miguel, Guest speakers have a lot of valuable information to share with students. It is good for students to hear from other professionals other than the instructor all the time. Patricia
