About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Troy, Students like it when they have clarity as to what is expected of them. Patricia Scales
Hi Susana, Students love it when we make the information apply to the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Amanda, Students love hearing our stories as they apply to the theory they are learning. Patricia Scales
Hi Christina, Students really buy into a course whenever they know that they can benefit from the information. Patricia Scales
Hi Julia, Relationsip building is extremely important in education, but we must remember to treat ALL students the same. Consistency/fairness are key. Patricia Scales
Hi Chanelle, I use a very simple technique as well. I let the students see me FULLY WATCHING them. I do not grade papers, get on my laptop, read, or etc. during test time. I watch my students. Patricia Scales
Hi Robert, Listening is key! We should always cover ourselves through proper documentation. Patricia Scales
Hi Jennifer, When things are clear, it is a win-win situtation for the students especially and instructors alike. Patricia Scales
Hi Melissa, Students want and need variety. The some old boring PowerPoint presentations can be way too routine causing boredom. Try scenarios, role playing, simulations, hands-on activities, etc. Patricia Scales
Hi Patsy, Students really appreciate being shown an example so that they can SEE exactly what is required of them in order to do well with the assignment. Patricia Scales
