About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Hi Jenni, Students want to and need to know that they are learning from a true professional that is extremely knowledgeable about the subject matter. Patricia Scales
Hi Craig, I love your energy level! I became excited and smiled as I was reading your response. I can see how you rub off on your students. Students emulate what they see. Patricia Scales
Hi Mitessa, You must have a plan! A plan makes for a more effective instructor, thus producing a quality student. Patricia Scales
Hi Vida, Binders are priceless! I have an organized binder for each course that includes, tests, answer sheets, answer keys, quizzes, assignments, chapter notes, etc. Binders have made my life easier as an instructor. Patricia Scales
Hi Melissa, Experience really is the best teacher. You live and learn. Preparation is key! It is better to have too much than to not have enough. Patricia Scales
Hi John, I like how you put them in charge to catch you doing something wrong or to point out you doing something wrong. When my students catch my errors, I commend them, and I say great catch. Students strive off of finding instructors mistakes. Patricia Scales
Hi Cynthia, Great strategies to prevent cheating. I sometimes use all essay or majority essay to prevent cheating. Patricia Scales
Hi Vincent, Sometimes PowerPoint is over killed. I like the idea of using just a minimal amount of slides to get the point across, too much of anything is not good. Patricia Scales
Hi Emily, Students like to act as though if they are in charge. It gives students something to look forward to in the real world once they begin their career; working your way to the top will hopefully land you a supervisory role. Patricia Scales
Hi Gloria, This assessment is a great way to determine if students really understand exactly what is expected of them. Patricia Scales
