About me

I've been a career educator for over 20 years. I currently serve as the Academic Coordinator for Brookstone College of Business and continue to be active in the classroom as a Business Instructor. My motto is "A student doesn't care how much you know, until they know how much you care." I was honored to receive the Career College Association National Teacher of the Year award in 2001. I just love teaching!

Activity

Hi Jeff, I too give my students a big speil on being held accountable as it applies to school, life, and on the job. Patricia Scales
Hi Dennis, I have experienced professional writers are way beyond our students scope, and our students can relate better to their peers work. Students gain clarity when examples are shared. Patricia Scales
Hi Bobbi, When students feel as though they have a sense of ownership in the course, they gain great excitement. It is nice when students feel like their opinion really matters. Patricia Scales
Hi Laura, Students are sold when they know the course will prepare them for their career so that they are successful. Patricia Scales
Hi Allyson, I like this stringent plan that you have in place to discourage students from taking tests late. I can see how this works. This is fair. Patricia Scales
Hi Nancy, Anger can certainly decrease performance. Angry students should be spoken to quickly and swiftly so that things get resolved. Patricia Scales
Hi Tom, Students appreciate having examples shared. It gives them ideas, and I have had some students to take shown examples to a whole different level in an impressive way. Patricia Scales
Hi Amina, I like the flip side you mentioned to showcasing students work. We should be proud of our students, and if they produce quality work, it is okay to put them in the limelight some. Patricia Scales
Hi Shannon, You are on point! Students like to understand why they are learning particular information. It is always good when you can get students to see how the information is applied to the real world. Patricia Scales
Hi Timothy, I also like to tell the students how the information is applicable to their career to gain buy in from the students. Patricia Scales
